Dr. Wilson graduated from Shelby High School, the University of North Carolina, and the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. He has been in private practice since 1989 in Shelby and Mooresville, North Carolina.

He is married to the former Lori Wilkins of Gastonia, a licensed Pharmacist. They have three children Erin, Laura and Jay. His parents are Jimmy and Ruth Wilson of Shelby.

Dr. Wilson has been active in Young Life of Cleveland County having served as Chairman of the Young Life Committee for two years. He has been an active member of Central United Methodist Church in Shelby and he and his wife have participated in the Walk of Emmaus. Dr. Wilson is also a Past President of the Shelby Kiwanis Club.
